Lake League Real Estate

Melissa Curtis

Melissa Curtis has spent most of her adult career in the real estate industry and has been refining her vast knowledge of the recreational real estate sector by focusing primarily on lakefront and recreational acreage in and around the Smith Lake community. Melissa grew up in Double Springs, Alabama, only minutes from Smith Lake, so the “lake lifestyle” has been ingrained in her DNA since childhood. Growing up on a farm with a hard-working family taught her the true value of a good day’s work and molded her to never give up; a trait that is rare in this day and age, but is an integral part of her real estate success.

Melissa currently resides on the lake in Crane Hill with her son, Braden, who is the light of her world and her inspiration to constantly strive for success and set an example that anyone would be proud to live up to. In addition to being an astute real estate professional, Melissa is also a certified RN, earning her Nursing degree from the University of Louisiana at LaFayette. Her deeply rooted passion for customer care and helping others has a direct correlation to the way she also nurtures her real estate clients without waning until she has helped them realize their investment goals. As a real estate professional, she has assisted with the successful marketing of numerous lakeside developments, helped countless clients purchase their dream lake property, and has consistently proven to be a top producer no matter what task she faces.

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her son, enjoying lake days, travel, hunting, college football, and scouring pastures admiring the cattle.

Thomas Joiner

Thomas Joiner has spent most of the last decade broadening his passion for real estate into a service model to help clients realize their dreams of owning and enjoying recreational properties on the lake, coast, and rural countryside. Thomas grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and developed a love for the outdoors through his youth activities of spending time on the lake, hunting, fishing, and golf with family and friends. He merged his love of the outdoors with his educational pursuits at the University of Alabama where he earned a degree in Finance with a Real Estate concentration and obtained his real estate license immediately following graduation.

Thomas has always been a “people person” and was involved with a social fraternity and the ACRE program at the University which offers students more in-depth exposure to the real estate industry outside the classroom. As a real estate professional, Thomas has assisted with the successful marketing of numerous lakeside developments which expanded his knowledge and understanding of recreational properties while helping clients achieve their investment goals and realize their dreams for their families. Whether you are looking for a lake home, lot, or potential lakeside development, Thomas’ unique understanding of the Smith Lake market is invaluable in helping his clients meet each of their investment goals.

In his spare time, Thomas enjoys spending time on the lake, hunting, fishing, golf, travel, college football, and most any activity outdoors.

Traci Richey

Traci Richey has been in and around the building industry basically her whole life.  Her father was a builder, and Traci loved helping him on projects while growing up.  She now works with her husband Bo at BRC, LLC – Lake Vision.  They love finding the beauty in properties that are diamonds in the rough and helping others see that beauty and potential as well.  Their most recent build is a lake house they built themselves from the ground up.  They designed the house and are so proud of the many customized features it offers.  For Traci, becoming a real estate agent felt like a natural next step in her career.

Prior to pursuing her real estate license, Traci was a nurse for over 20 years.  She has always been passionate about nursing and helping people.  Traci worked as a staff nurse and worked her way up to a director level nursing position where she thrived and was proud to be a part of helping design, organize, and make operational several new departments in a large hospital in Birmingham.  Traci decided that while she loved nursing and would continue to maintain her license and work at Cullman Regional Medical Center on an as-needed basis, she would pursue her real estate license with a goal of helping people buy and sell real estate where she spends the majority of her time—on the lake—with the hope that she can help others enjoy the lake as much as she does.

As kids, Traci and her husband both spent a lot of time on the water.  They grew up going to Lake Guntersville.  As adults, Traci and Bo fell in love with Smith Lake and the beauty that it affords.  They decided they would find a way to work, enjoy, and one day retire on beautiful Smith Lake.  In Traci’s spare time she loves spending time with Bo, hosting and spending time with family and friends on the lake, and watching college football and college and professional baseball. Traci is very excited about the opportunity to be a part of Lake League Reality and is also looking forward to being more involved with activities and charities around the lake.

Mary Hames

A North Alabama native, Mary Hames spent her childhood summers on Smith Lake, with her best memories including thunderstorms on the water, canoes in the creek, and exploring the nearby woods.

Mary is a scientist (BS and MS in Chemistry, PhD in Biochemical Genetics), and works as a Medical Director for a pharmaceutical company focused on genetic neurological conditions of children. Mary honed her business acumen with an Executive MBA from Kennesaw State, a top 10 Global EMBA program.

In 2017, Mary returned to Cullman after some years away and acquired her first commercial building. Mary has a passion for buying, renovating, and renting commercial real estate, now owning more than 20,000 square feet of commercial space in Cullman. (And she’s always looking for more!) She also has experience developing raw land around the lake.

In 2020, Mary opened her property management firm, Carolyn Jett Property, to streamline and expand her property portfolio. With this in place, Mary joined Lake League, and now manages additional commercial and lake rental properties for other real estate investors using the team and processes she has already in place. Offering full-time proactive maintenance, cleaning, marketing, and revenue optimization, her property management expertise is a welcome addition to the team!

Mary is passionate about rehabbing and renting real estate, focusing on goal setting, ROI’s, and smart design. In her down time, she enjoys traveling and family walks with her husband and daughter.

Jason McCullar

As a Smith Lake native and soon-to-be resident, Jason looks forward to serving the residents of Walker, Winston, and Cullman counties. Audrey Sutton

Audrey is a native to North Alabama. She grew up on the water as a small child going fishing with her dad. She has always been an outdoorsy person and loves being in nature.

Some of her favorite outdoor activities when she’s not selling real estate include hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, golfing, traveling, attending concerts, and being on the lake with her husband and 4 boys. In the summer they spend a lot of time at the lake on their boat intertubing, kneeboarding, and wakeboarding.

She has always had a passion for helping people, and before she was a Realtor, she worked in the medical field of health and wellness as a Master Aesthetician and Laser technician for over 13 years, as well as being a nursing assistant in Obstetrics and managing multiple Medical Aesthetic clinics over the years.

After covid hit, Aubrey stayed home with her youngest child and worked on getting her real estate license.

She has also been working side-by-side with her husband at his business, FloorMax. Her husband is a Bona-certified craftsman, and he has been in the business for over 15 years.

They sand and finish hardwood floors, working for customers from the Tennessee state line to south of Birmingham and all around the lake, making floors beautiful again or installing new hardwoods and finishing on-site with excellent craftsmanship.

Audrey and her husband have flipped or remodeled several of their own homes, as well as completed renovations for customers. They both have an eye for detail and can identify the things that need to be changed in a home to update and elevate the overall design.

They reside in Hartselle, AL with their boys, but they also own property on the lake in Double Springs, where they spend about half their time and are very familiar with the lake and towns that surround Smith Lake.

Audrey likes meeting new people and helping her clients sell their homes, getting them top dollar so they can move on to their next adventure and find the property or home that meets their specific needs. Audrey is excited to be part of the Lake League team to grow her real estate business.
